frequently asked questions
Do you only create cremation urns, or can I purchase other items from you?
Yes, I love to work in clay and create a variety of pieces for personal collections. My skills include sculpture, functional ware, small and large decorative pieces. Please visit https://www.etsy.com/shop/belavidaartes for work that is currently available for sale.
Do you create "custom" urns or works?
I would be honored to create a custom piece memorializing your loved one.
How do you charge for custom work?
Based on the level of complexity and materials, I will provide you with an estimate and ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit prior to starting the work. Once the piece is completed and you've approved the work, the remaining balance is due prior to shipment. Please keep in mind that sculptural and primitive firing techniques add significantly to the time involved in creating your work of art.
What size urn is needed?
According to the ICCFA, for purposes of choosing an urn, one cubic inch of urn translates into one pound of body weight. 200 cubic inch cremation vessels are a standard size for humans. Many families will choose an urn at least 200 cubic inches, giving them room to hold any of their loved one's personal treasures. Some families choose companion or "keepsake vessels", which can be smaller in size if the ashes are to be shared.
